Hotel Punkaharju
The Wooden Ghost of Savonlinna
The Lore
Constructed in the early 1900s, this lakeside retreat was once the crown jewel of Finnish woodland escapes. Wealthy merchants and Russian nobility sought refuge in its intricately carved wooden halls.
Today, the abandoned wings stand as a monument to impermanence. The relentless Finnish winters have warped the timbers, and moss creeps across the ballroom floors. The silence here is heavy, punctuated only by the groan of settling wood and the wind off the freezing lake.
